Our Logo
The basic unit of the Family Trees logo is an ancient symbol representing a human as a vertical line with outstretched arms. This symbol is one of the oldest know representations of 'man'.
Trees are then also represented by the same symbol, drawing parallels between the 2 living species. When placed in a group together, the connection between humans and trees - a core mission of Family Trees - is highlighted.
Finally, when rotated to form a globe, the connected symbols become a universal gesture of kinship and solidarity encircling the world.
Our Mission
We are a nonprofit facilitating the planting of trees in the name of family members living and passed. We believe this creates a unique opportunity to appreciate and honor your family history. It also encourages a personal relationship with the natural world when planting an individual tree in a loved one's name. We want humans and trees to connect.
Our Why
This simple act can bring more meaning into our lives in a world where we need it. Planting your tree will become part of your legacy and will last for your lifetime, and beyond. This process will help you think about trees in a completely different way. It instantly creates a powerful connection to another living thing and a whole new level of appreciation. According to climate scientists, trees are one of the most effective natural options for reversing carbon released into the atmosphere. So this is worth doing!

Peter Ferris
Chief Connector
Peter spent several years developing programs for his company where employees would spend 3 days out in the woods connecting deeply with nature and with each other. There were many profound impacts the program had on the participants. Building deeper connections with family and heritage and trees are the inspiration for FTW. If we can make even a small positive difference in a life it is worth it!
